Keeping African Heritage children and young people safe – a partnership event 09.45 -13.00 - 7th December 2017 Tomlinson Centre, Queensbridge Road, E8 3ND

The City and Hackney Children’s Safeguarding Board and Hackney Council invite you to a joint event to help us improve the way we all reach and engage with children, young people and families from the African heritage community. This is part of our efforts ensure all children are seen, heard and helped.

The event  brings safeguarding professionals and organisations working with African heritage families together so that everyone has better understanding of each other’s work and of ways they can work together.

•    VCS children’s and family support stakeholders will share key insights, issues and the community approach to safeguarding African heritage communities.
•    The Board will share its key safeguarding priorities and messages

This work forms part of the Improving outcomes for young black men programme led by Hackney Council, Hackney CVS and local partner agencies. The work is championed by Cllr Bramble, lead Cabinet Member for Children and Young People. Through the programme, Hackney CVS have already established a stronger network of community organisations working with African heritage families. There is now an opportunity to link this network with safeguarding professionals, in order to strengthen preventative safeguarding work.
