Introduction to Project Management
Course overview
The course will explore:
• The definitions of projects, project management, project sponsor, project board, business case, project management plan, project life cycle, work breakdown structure, organisation breakdown structure, terms of reference, Gantt chart
• The roles and responsibilities of the project manager.
• What activities are needed to create the component elements of a project
• Quality assurance
• Project costs
• Monitoring and evaluation
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the session participants will be able to:
• Define project management.
• Identify and define key project mangement terminology.
• Understand the primary concepts and lifecycle structure of project management.
• Apply basic principles and tools to better manage an exist project, and plan and implement a new project.

Trainer
Somanah Achadoo has developed and successfully delivered a range of courses whilst working at Voluntary Action Camden (VAC) and as a self-employed Management Consultant/Project Manager. He has delivered accredited courses in partnership with education providers such as universities and FE colleges as well as not-for-profit organisations. Non-accredited courses have also been designed and delivered to staff, trustees and volunteers working in both statutory and the voluntary & community/ charity/ not-for-profit sector. Some courses were commissioned by local authorities and others by charities, and some were developed due to the need of the sector and were self-funded by the learners with match funding from Skills Funding Agency.
