How to Effectively Measure Impact- A Basic Introduction

In this first session of three, you will be introduced to some of the concepts used in evaluation, as well as basic techniques used to collect data. This is an interactive module, and you’ll be given the opportunity to think through the issues and how they apply to your work in practice.

Course Outline:

  1. An introduction to evaluation - what it is, what it's for, and why we do it
  2. Basic concepts – some terms you will need to know!
  3. Inputs, outputs, and outcomes – what’s the difference and why does it matter?
  4. Different types of evaluation data, what they do, and how we use them
  5. Case Study: An introduction to impact measurement
  6. Q&A – let’s talk through the issues you have experienced!

 

Trainer:

Jason Pollard has over 15 years’ experience designing, implementing, and project managing evaluation programmes, and using data to support business development and bid writing. Working with national and international organisations in the voluntary sector (Action for Children, The Children’s Society, Sense, NAVCA, and The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts) and for Government offices (The Charity Commission) Jason has a strong understanding of how data can support charities to deliver effective programmes and meet their objectives. Community Impact CIC was founded in 2021 to support small charities understand the impact they have, use data in support of their work, and become financially sustainable.
