This FREE in-person training is for anyone who wants greater knowledge of what Female Genital Mutilation is and how they can safeguard females at risk. The session will provide information about services and resources available to support victims and those working with them.

Course outcomes:
By the end of the course delegates will have an understanding of:

  • The different types of FGM
  • The short and long term health impacts
  • ​​​​​​​When and why FGM takes place 
  • The prevelance of FGM both globally and locally
  • ​​​​​​​FGM and the law (includes laws around virginity testing and hymenoplasty
  • The indicators that it may have already taken place  
  • ​​​​​​​Safeguarding, Responding, Referring

  • Support services and resources
