Working with Traumatic Bereavement during COVID-19

The VCS frontline staff play a key role to support service users during the current health crisis. Hackney CVS and PYL are supporting the children’s sector workforce to improve their understanding of how to protect staff and support service users at this challenging time.

We are holding a Zoom Traumatic Bereavement during COVID-19 on Tuesday 19th May 2020 at 11:30am.

This session will focus on engaging with children, young people and their families around loss and bereavement during the COVID-19 pandemic. The current crisis has significantly impacted on how we memorialise, pay tribute to and remember those who have died and the training will concentrate on the following:

-Understanding traumatic bereavement and loss
-Understanding the impact of COVID-19 on experiences of loss
-Trauma informed practice accounting for culture and context
-Working with children and young people
-Working with families
-Creative ideas for therapeutic engagement
-Planning for post COVID-19: memorialisation and remembering
-Early intervention and support
-Strategies for self-care
