Connect Hackney’s upcoming learning event: Ageing Well in Hackney - Finding solutions to Older People’s isolation

We’re delighted to announce Connect Hackney’s upcoming learning event ‘Ageing Well in Hackney: Finding solutions to Older People’s isolation’, on the 26 November, 10am – 12.30pm, to be hosted online via Zoom.

In this event we will run two workshops
    • Workshop A: The Digital Divide: Covering themes specifically around loneliness and isolation amongst older people, exploring the additional impact of COVID-19, especially in relation to digital exclusion, and challenges to engagement and retention.

    • Workshop B: Connect Hackney, Systems Change and Partnership Working: We will examine the impact the Connect Hackney programme has had over the past six years across policy, funding, service delivery and on ultimate outcomes for older people and what more can and needs to be done to prevent and/or reduce isolation and loneliness amongst older people living in Hackney.

Please let us know if you are only able to attend part of the event and which workshop you would like to attend by emailing us at info@connecthackney.org.uk.

We are pleased to have the following speakers, Kate Jopling (Policy and Strategy consultant), Cllr Chris Kennedy and Cllr Yvonne Maxwell (London Borough of Hackney).

In the meantime, we are pleased to share four brand new reports, by our UEL research team which includes short executive summaries;
    i) Community Connectors which explores the effectiveness of the Community Connectors project and explains what features specifically have encouraged participants to stay with the project, and how it’s impacted them;
    ii)
Digital Inclusion which examines the use of technology has helped to reduce social isolation and loneliness and looks at the key mechanisms for that;
    iii)
Reach Engagement and Retention which looks at different methods projects have used to reach and engage participants and speaks to the challenges and barriers and how projects have overcome these; and
    iv) Annual Report – this covers the first year of our evaluation with UEL team and examines what has been learned during that period.

Additionally, all of our key messages, documents and videos can be found here.

Just click on the 'Register Now' button to reserve your place on the day as we have limited spaces. We look forward to having you in the room, sharing our latest learning, hearing what you have to say and working together for a brighter future for older people in Hackney. Zoom details will be sent closer to date.

If you have any accessibility requirements or questions you can email us at info@connecthackney.org.uk.

Many thanks,

Connect Hackney team
