Woodberry Wetlands: FREE Half Day - Mental Health Awareness Training
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognised training course which teaches people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis. Led by local Mind, this session focusing on adults will help build understanding, confidence to help someone in distress, with a chance to explore situations you are facing.
This interactive online session will incorporate live training, films and self-learning activities.
The first half of the session will cover:
- What is mental health?
Mental Health Continuum
Factors which affect mental health
Stigma
Stress and stress management
Spotting signs of distress
- Mental health conditions:
Depression
Anxiety disorders
Psychosis
Eating disorders
The second half covers:
- Suicide
- Self-harm
- Recovery
- Take 10 Together - starting a supportive conversation
- Supporting mental health in the workplace
- Useful statistics
- Helpful resources
Following the course, everyone who completes the course will get posted:
• A certificate of attendance to say you are Mental Health Aware
• A manual to refer to whenever you need it
• A workbook including a helpful toolkit to support your own mental health
